Every third Thursday of October, the global credit cooperative community celebrates International Credit Union Day. This year, more than 411 million members from 104 countries joined the celebration. Traditionally, this day is dedicated to promoting credit unions, recognizing their positive impact on the economic and social spheres, raising financial awareness, and informing people about the advantages of credit unions and the importance of the services they provide to communities.
The slogan of this year’s Credit Union Day is ‘A Unified World of Cooperative Finance’. It emphasizes the importance of unity and mutual support in our time of history, when turbulent processes around the world tend to divide people.
In Ukraine, where our nation is literally forced to defend its right to exist, for the third year in a row, the celebration has included various charitable initiatives in support of the Armed Forces and those affected by the war — fundraising, volunteer assistance, and more. Because credit unions are not only about money, but also about unity in all its forms and mutual help.
